Project overview

ASTIR aims to develop an AI-augmented software engineering workbench for intelligent robotics. The project focuses on automating software development processes, improving ROS package migration, enhancing dependability analysis, and streamlining testing and security validation. By integrating trustworthy generative AI, ASTIR will support all lifecycle phases, enabling more efficient and reliable robotics software development across diverse applications, including service robotics, manufacturing, and drones.

Our Role

PAL Robotics will lead the mobile robotics use case within ASTIR, integrating AI-augmented software engineering tools to enhance robotics development. Our focus will be on automating ROS package migration, improving dependability analysis, and streamlining testing and security validation for intelligent robotic systems. We will validate the ASTIR framework using TIAGo and ARI, ensuring its applicability in real-world robotics workflows.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the validation of the mobile robotics use case at PAL Robotics.
  • Develop and integrate AI-powered tools to automate ROS package migration and software updates.
  • Improve dependability analysis, focusing on security, testing, and system integrity across software versions.
  • Support AI-driven code generation, ensuring robots can efficiently execute tasks such as navigation, grasping, and interaction.
  • Validate ASTIR’s engineering workbench by demonstrating its impact on robotics development, enhancing productivity and reliability.
  • Contribute expertise in robotics, AI, and software engineering to refine and optimize ASTIR’s tools for real-world applications.
