MNACTEC opens its robotics exhibition with the participation of PAL Robotics

REEM in the museum

On Sunday 20 September, the Museu Nacional de la Ciència i de la Tècnica de Catalunya (MNACTEC) opened its new exhibition dedicated to robotics, an event that brought together leading figures from Catalonia’s academic, institutional and business sectors.

The opening remarks featured the Director of MNACTEC, Pere Homs (Col·legi d’Enginyers Industrials de Catalunya), Alícia Casals (Col·legi d’Enginyers Industrials de Catalunya / UPC), Josep Amat (UPC), Francesco Ferro, CEO of PAL Robotics, and Pablo Medrano (Casual Robots). The event highlighted the collaboration between different players in the Catalan robotics ecosystem, from universities to businesses, professional associations and cultural and scientific institutions.

Francesco Ferro’s presence on behalf of PAL Robotics reaffirmed the company’s role as one of Catalonia’s leading robotics businesses on the international stage. Indeed, the day also featured two of our robotic platforms: ARI welcomed visitors at the museum, while REEM is the humanoid joining the exhibition on a permanent basis.

REEM, launched in 2010, is a full-size humanoid service platform developed by PAL Robotics for autonomous navigation and human interaction. Equipped with arms, cameras, voice recognition and interaction, and a touchscreen, it was designed to act as a guide, receptionist and information point. Its track record includes a notable case in 2017, when a version of REEM was deployed by Dubai Police to interact with the public and provide services via its touchscreen.

Through this collaboration, PAL Robotics reaffirms its commitment to Catalonia as a hub of technological innovation and to bringing robotics closer to the general public.
