Eurobench

Project overview

EUROBENCH, part of the H2020 framework, aims to establish global robotics benchmarking standards for humanoid biped robots, exoskeletons, and prostheses. It defines common evaluation criteria and creates testing facilities in Italy and Spain. PAL Robotics’ REEM-C is the standard humanoid robot at the Italian site, featuring challenges like stairs and ladders to assess capabilities. Researchers and companies can use these facilities or EUROBENCH software to test their solutions.

Our Role

PAL Robotics played a pivotal role in the EUROBENCH project by contributing REEM-C as the standard humanoid bipedal robot for benchmarking locomotion and bipedal robotic technologies at the Italian testing facility. As a partner in this ambitious initiative, we supported the establishment of global evaluation standards for humanoid robots, exoskeletons, and prostheses to advance research and development in robotic mobility.

Our contributions extended beyond just providing hardware—we worked closely with researchers, developers, and industry stakeholders to create standardized testing environments and methodologies. This collaboration ensured that robotic solutions could be assessed in real-world conditions, helping drive forward innovation and performance enhancements in humanoid robotics.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing REEM-C as the standard robotic platform at the Italian testing facility for humanoid bipedal technology evaluation.
  • Supporting the establishment and operation of the Italian testing facility to meet the needs of researchers and companies.
  • Enabling algorithm testing on REEM-C to assess performance in challenging scenarios.
  • Documenting testing procedures and results to advance benchmarking in robotics.
  • Collaborating with EUROBENCH partners to establish evaluation criteria for humanoid robots, exoskeletons, and prostheses.
  • Integrating testing feedback to enhance REEM-C’s performance and future humanoid robotics developments.
