SHAPES: Smart and Healthy Ageing through People Engaging in Supportive Systems

Project description

SHAPES aims to create the first European open Ecosystem enabling the large-scale deployment of a broad range of digital solutions for supporting and extending healthy and independent living for older individuals who are facing permanently or temporarily reduced functionality and capabilities.
SHAPES is building an interoperable Platform integrating smart digital solutions to collect and analyse older individuals’ health, environmental and lifestyle information, identify their needs and provide personalized solutions that uphold the individuals’ data protection and trust.

This project will help bring greater efficiency that increases health care and provision across Europe, bringing improved quality of life to older individuals, their families, caregivers and care service providers, and this is possible due to the standardization, interoperability and scalability the SHAPES platform has.

The SHAPES’ piloting activity will consist of 36 activities which will be carried out in 15 pilot sites in 10 EU MS, and it will involve more than 2,000 users targeting different themes, such as smart-living environment for healthy ageing, physical rehabilitation at home or caring for elderly individuals with neurodegenerative diseases, etc…

PAL Robotics side is adapting the social robot ARI in order to help with mobility and/or rehabilitation exercises, engage in social activities, explore the use of the robot manipulator, and to be able to assist in specific tasks. In order for the robots to do these tasks they will have to have incorporated a suite of digital solutions from the other partners.
