Our Role

Within the Open DR project, PAL Robotics primarily contributed to healthcare applications by integrating deep learning algorithms into the TIAGO robotic platform. TIAGO served as an end-user assistant in healthcare settings, handling tasks such as receiving visitors and fetching objects. Key features included human presence recognition, activity and vocal instruction interpretation, and the ability to recognize emotional states for personalized human interaction.

Key responsibilities

  • Integrating deep learning algorithms into the TIAGO robotic platform to enhance its perception and cognition capabilities.
  • Adapting TIAGO for use as an end-user assistant in healthcare environments, focusing on tasks like receiving visitors and fetching objects.
  • Developing algorithms for human presence recognition, activity interpretation, and emotion recognition to enable personalized human-robot interaction.
  • Contributing to the development of the Open DR toolkit, ensuring seamless integration with ROS and other software libraries.
  • Showcasing the capabilities of TIAGO in healthcare scenarios to demonstrate the practical applications of deep learning in robotics for cooperative human-robot interaction and cognitive mechatronics.
