Our Role

In the SAFE-LY project, PAL Robotics enhances the functionalities of their mobile manipulator TIAGo, specifically for healthcare environments. TIAGo is deployed to monitor and react to safety concerns, such as detecting falls or misplaced objects in care settings. This project highlights PAL Robotics’ commitment to integrating robotics into healthcare to improve safety and support staff, optimizing care for elderly patients.

Key responsibilities

  • Integrating PAL Robotics’ TIAGo++ into the METATOOL project framework.
  • Collaborating in the development of a computational model of synthetic awareness based on predictive processing.
  • Validating the utility of the model in real robots through two use case scenarios: conditional sequential tasks and tool creation.
  • Contributing expertise in robotics to enhance the adaptation capabilities of TIAGo++, enabling it to monitor, self-evaluate, and create tools autonomously.
  • Participating in advancing the frontier of robotics by unlocking the potential for robots to exhibit adaptive and anticipative control, self-evaluation, and tool invention.
