Resumen del proyecto

SESAME is a research initiative focused on advancing Multi-Robot Systems (MRS) through an open, model-based engineering approach. It aims to enhance scalability, performance, and robustness in uncertain environments, while ensuring safety and security. By combining user-led use-cases in various domains and leveraging public meta-models, components, and configuration tools, SESAME aims to deliver widely-used, sustainable, and industrial-strength open-source software.

Our Role

As part of the SESAME project, PAL Robotics deployed an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) team in a hospital environment to demonstrate safe and secure human-robot collaboration. We provided a diverse fleet of robots, including TIAGo and TIAGo Base, and contributed to the safety aspect of the system. Each robot in the fleet managed its safety component, while an external PC served as a base station for planning and coordinating the robots’ actions using a common map.

Key responsibilities

  • Deploying a heterogeneous fleet of robots, including TIAGo and TIAGo Base, within a hospital environment.
  • Ensuring each robot in the fleet handles its safety component effectively to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Developing and implementing algorithms for planning and coordinating the actions of multiple robots using a common map.
  • Facilitating safe and secure interaction between humans and robots within the hospital setting.
  • Contributing to the development of open-source software aimed at enhancing the scalability, performance, and robustness of Multi-Robot Systems (MRS).
