SIMBIOTS
Project description
SIMBIOTS is a project that facilitates the introduction of robotics in new industrial processes and applications. It’s an initiative from the Acció department of the Generalitat de Catalunya, however this project is co-financed by the European Union, in particular by the Operational program of the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER). They are carrying out this project using collaborative robots, which means that robots from different companies work together to achieve this goal. These robotic platforms allow the creation of a workspace where both humans and robots can interact without any physical barriers and yet guarantee the safety of the workers.
PAL Robotics is taking part in this project and will develop a robotic platform that adapts to the needs of Industry 4.0. It will be possible for this solution to become a new commercial product, with the necessary industrial certification, to be integrated into industrial environments. This robot will help to achieve the objectives of the SIMBIOTICS project, to improve workers’ ergonomics, reduce the number of injuries and increase productivity in the industrial sector.
