Semi-Autonomous Care Robot – The project combined the strong points of two (that time) existing service robots: our service robot REEM and ROSE, add tele-operation technology and interactive object recognition and task learning skills to develop a new service robot for the care market that is: Semi – autonomous, Robust, Low cost, Mature, Manufacturable and Functional. The hardware and software was developed, tested, demonstrated and validated in real care applications.

Thanks to this project the first TIAGo prototype as a service robot for the care market has been manufactured in 2015. It was equipped with with an haptic system which permits to teleoperate the robot, meaning that one caregiver can assist more patients at the same time.
